Well-intended latter, but don't expect a reply, much less a thoughtful response. A waste of paper and ink.

The borg is fighting tooth and nail to not turn over sex abuse records, and the press is taking note :)

"I'm not sure of anything that they could have done differently." Disfellowshipping merely expels him from the JW community, but leaves him entirely free to menace the community at large.
What about the danger he poses to non JW children in his neighborhood? Or is their welfare none of our concern since they're going to be annihilated anyway by the Bronze Age tribal desert God of the Hebrews?
Let's review: Child abuse is NOT just a sin: It's a CRIME!!

JWs, including elders with college-age kids, are generally adept at side-stepping such boneheaded advice by employing "benign neglect"

Keep the meeting going! (even if somebody's dying)
by TimeBandit inthis is a true story.
it's about a sister named henriette venema.
she was a very loyal jw.

So sad.. I recall an instance at the Assembly Hall in Jersey City, NJ in which a man died of a heart attack as a circuit or district overseer (can't remember which) was giving a talk. He upbraided the audience because of the commotion the incident provoked as friends rushed to deal with the emergency; it occurred at the back of the ground floor seating.

Why are anniversaries allowed but not birthdays?
by hyperpen inthe scripture quotes aside, i was always told that we don't celebrate birthdays because that is a celebration of the self, which has no place in jehovah's organization.
then why celebrate anniversaries?
anniversary celebrations are about the joining of two selves, isn't that twice as selfish?.

It's scripturally indefensible. -

JW as a secret society - a weak link in the Information Age.
by slimboyfat inin the late 1990s there was magazine article that asked the question, are jws a secret society?
obviously they said no, because they claim to be transparent to outsiders and new members.
but they really are not transparent at all.

Other examples of obfuscation are the so-called "biographies" of the GB, published in the WT. They raise more questions than answers. Take for example, the one for (the late) Guy Pierce; carefully concealed between the lines is the fact that he was twice married and had children. In fact, Bethel scuttlebutt, which in fairness nobody can confirm, was that his first marriage ended in an acrimonious divorce.

Recent mistakes of the Governing Body contributing to the decline of JWs
by slimboyfat inthey have made so many strategical mistakes it's hard to keep track.
some changes within the last decade or so that are contributing to declining numbers of jws:.
1. elimination of book study groups, the most informal, enjoyable and sociable of the jw meetings, contributed to loss of sense of community among jws.. 2. policy of consolidating kingdom halls.

All points are well taken SBF; their foray into telecasting was a big miscalculation; propping their leaders up for inspection to a wider audience exposes them and their zits to public scrutiny.. and all too often, to ridicule. They're an unimpressive lot, to put it kindly.

I have no prblems with "new light"
by Doug Mason inthere is nothing wrong with accepting new ideas.
even apostle paul changed his mind when he "saw the light".
indeed, i hope to learn new things every day.

It's one thing to accept new ideas; quite another to coerce others into acceptance. -

Peak attendance (Sunday): 5,645; 26 baptized. General impression: "Convention Light"-- i.e. entertainment value:(previously nil) now enhanced by leavening the boring talks with interspersed video. Shameless, maudlin appeal to emotions of the crowd (not a few tears shed during final video). Total abandonment of intellectual appeal (first-ever convention with no literature release).
Otherwise a traditional JW gathering... ethnically diverse, preponderantly black (by a small but distinct margin)... the usual smattering of grotesquely obese and pretty-to-beautiful young girls, trophy wives-in-waiting, dressed to the hilt;
No Bethel biggies in evidence (they're holding out for an all-expense trip in Business Class to an exotic international destination).
